Why Is Evangelism Important?

Course Overview

  • It takes only one generation not sharing the Good News to lose a nation” (Billy Graham).

  • Christianity is passed on through evangelism, not through the bloodstream.

  • Evangelism is understanding the sacrifice that was paid for our sins.

  • The heart of the Church’s Mission: to send.

  • Sending is to announce Christ’s redemptive work on the Earth.

  • “The supreme task of the church is the evangelization of the world” (Oswald J Smith).

  • We find our beginning is in the ending of the four Gospels.

    • Mark 16 – Go into all the world and preach the Gospel

    • Matthew 28 – All authority in Heaven and Earth has been given…therefore go and make disciples of all nations

    • Luke 24 – You are to be witnesses

    • John 20 – As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you

  • The Book of Acts says we are to receive power from on high and be witnesses unto the uttermost parts of the earth.

  • Are you a spectator or are you a participant?

  • Evangelism is both an opportunity and a mandate!

  • You and I have been empowered by God to be His voice, to be His hands, to be His heart in this world today.

  • Evangelism is important because it is a commandment.

  • When people have a need, your smile, your life speaks to them and simply allowing the love of Christ to manifest through your heart establishes to them how you consider God to be important.

  • Evangelism is an opportunity.

  • Two thousand years ago the fields were already white for harvest.

  • Before the foundations of the world that you and I were invented to be the “cheek muscles” for the voice of God.
